There are a few moments in your life, when critical decisions must be made. Ordinarily, you go about your day- as mundane or exciting as it may be- & don't ever question the environment created around you. In our our country, the Red, White, & Blue existence follows a little sequence like this:
Birth > Get potty trained (aka you learn how not to shit yourself) > Elementary school (& everything in between, ie: learn how to ride a bike, get kissed behind a red barn on the playground, have your first date with the tooth fairy, learn your multiplication tables) > Grade school (with all of its glory- officially entering the arc of womanhood, or manhood, learning how to drive a bigger set of wheels- heavy metal!, attending your first concert & trying to decipher what that thick smell wafting through the amphitheater is, losing your v-card for some? > College (choosing a major- in school, in love, & in life) > Traveling to Europe & falling in love with a local named Pablo > & then coming back & entering adulthood (get a job, find a mate, marry this mate, & finally mate w. this mate- thus starting the cycle all over again for someone new).
But what if you don't fit into this a > b > c > d progression? What if, you get to point e, & realize that point f is not to your liking-- as natural a step as it seems in the grand scheme of things. Instead, you come to the realization that your cards may have been dealt a different hand then the players sitting around you. Or at the very least-- you want to play the cards you have been dealt a bit differently.
So where does this leave you? Do you blindly continue to swim along the alphabet current of society, or do you venture into the deep abyss? Sure to do so- it will take a stadium sized leap of faith, & perhaps a sleepless night, or week or year- but the payoff will be good for YOU, won't it?
I digress... My point is: life is about decisions. The big ones don't come to you very often- but when they do- you take them. You can't get stuck in the technical difficulties, or think about all the other fish around you, or even fear the consequences it may involve (as difficult a thought as they are to entertain)- but you just do, you. Because it is in those moments of necessary action, when we are truly found.
& Remember, regardless of your current status on this Alphabet Spectrum of Life- we will eventually all get to the letter Z & sweetly reminisce on the decisions of our youth.
